Sometimes I wonder if our ministers are working for the people or protecting their own ministries.

A good example will be the apparent annoyance of a minister (Noh Omar) because of the several Chinese women nationals bringing up their harassment by the police with the DAP. My question is, who else could they go to?

They highlighted their cases and made a police report and were woken up at 2am just to check if they are living at the addresses provided. Really, does it matter if they are sleeping under a bridge? As long as they have valid travel papers they can sleep anywhere. Since when is it unlawful to sleep at another address?

So now the minister wants everybody to bring matters regarding the police to his attention. Seems like he is the only one who can "help", and to quote malaysiakini's report, "... he will handle the matter if the women approached him personally".

How many cases can he handle personally? We read of police abuses in the papers almost daily . Considering the number of reports, maybe he should move his office to a police station. In that way, any aggrieved person need not go to the nearest police station to make any report. There will no need to go to Bukit Aman.

Think for a moment, if the police had acted professionally, would all of this have happened? So Mr Minister, if there is anything to be angry about, it is with the unprofessional police personnel for tarnishing the image of the police force. The officer involved must be suspended pending an investigation. And if proven untrue, charge the Chinese nationals for making false reports.

Isn't that the correct procedure?
