I refer to the letter Two courts in every land, can't win in both . I agree with the writer that the court capacity is limited in some cases involving wrongly accused persons. But I have to disagree with his ending where he mentioned Islamic Syariah law and that you cannot accuse a person unless you can provide four witnesses of good moral character.

It seems to hint that the Syariah law is the answer to the problem. Turning the tables around, what if a crime had really been committed but only in the presence of the perpetrator and the victim? Based on the Syariah law, there is no way for the victim to seek justice.

First, you need four witnesses and if you are able to find them, they must be of good character. But who is to decide if they are of good character?

The conclusion is that no system is perfect. Fortunately for the world at large, the progress in technology like DNA identification, video recordings, etc, have all contributed greatly to solving crimes and exposing injustices committed against humanity.

We need more tools and gadgets which will help victims or potential victims nail perpetrators of crime with solid evidence. What we have now may not be perfect but combined with improving technology, it can only get better.

Of course, it helps if we have people with a basic universal sense of fair play and justice in the system as any system can be manipulated or even abused. Again, no system is perfect or superior over the another.
