I have been a dog owner for almost all my life. I find that dogs are not only the most faithful and best friends of man, but they are also man's guardian and protector. I believe that most homes which keep dogs have the feeling of being safe, especially at night.

The question of viciousness of dogs towards humans, I cannot deny as there are such cases. However, these cases are very few it would not even account for one percent of the total number of dogs kept as pets.

Furthermore, we must look at the root cause of such viciousness as I am very sure it is due to abuse of the dogs either by the victims or the owners. In my more than 50 years of keeping dogs including the German Shepherd and Rottweiler breeds, I have found them perfectly docile without any signs of aggressiveness.

Hence our enforcement authorities ought to get their priorities right and go for the real culprits when enforcing dog control regulations including banning certain breeds. The abusers are not the innocent dog-keeping public, please.

House robber an d burglars. I think these are the only parties that will most benefit by the authorities' action to make it difficult for dog owners to licence and keep their pets.
