Political Observer's belief in the recent Barisan Nasional win at Pengkalan Pasir is, I dare say, misguided if not somewhat slanderous.

The BN's election machinery - that which is always flushed with cash (sources unknown, of course) - did the job.

I cannot believe that the chairman of the Election Commission is a 'kingmaker'. I have known him personally for many, many years. He is religious, 'straight' and patronising sometimes but otherwise a civil servant with a penchant for efficiency.

He told me a number of times over the last decade that the junior front-line found in government agencies were hopeless in terms of attitude and providing service.

A good and dedicated man wrongly accused? Or mistakenly made an inadvertent scapegoat for a losing individual or political party?
