I refer to Ezam Mohd Nor's feature article, Gerak - on the move to eradicate corruption , which appeared in malaysiakini on Feb 10, 2006.

The acronym Gerak is the official acronym for Pergerakan Tenaga Akademik Malaysia. The organisation (together with the acronym, Gerak) has been registered with the Registrar of Societies in 1993. The organisation is also registered as Malaysian Academic Movement with the acronym, Move.

All other organisations should refrain from using our acronym Gerak for themselves. Usage of the acronym by other organisations would only create confusion and misunderstanding. It would also impede our struggle for the betterment of the welfare of the academics and improvement in the quality of tertiary education in Malaysia.
