I refer to your report MTUC splinter group vows never to return regarding the MTUC leadership and the setting up of a new labour organisation.

If there are indeed problems in MTUC and MTUC is allegedly not able to bring about the much needed change in the welfare of the working class, then Malaysian National Workers Organsation (MNWO) pro-tem president Abdul Razak Hassan Abdul Razak Hassan and his team should detail the actual problems and defects.

By declining to elaborate on the specific problems and supposed inactiveness of MTUC, it merely seems as if Abdul Razak Hassan is on a witch-hunt.

By forming another labour organisation, the labour force in the country is fragmentised. In actual fact, the labour force should be one body, fighting for the same cause and not be portrayed as a force that is divided.

Abdul Razak is talking about solidarity but if that is the case he should stay on in MTUC and help correct the leadership's mistakes. That is the duty of a member. This action of setting up another organisation is a cowardly way out and is a means to assert control arbitrarily.

A good example was the National Union of Banking Employees (NUBE) crisis. Even though it went on for three years, NUBE members took it upon themselves to decide on the leadership and fate of their union.
