I am a non-partisan, apolitical Chinese Malaysian. I would like to understand what is MCA's stance with regards to the arbitrary compelling of the tudung upon non-Muslim policewomen in the guise of "uniformity"?

MCA has been strangely silent and passive (from what I gather from the mainstream media) on this issue which very clearly infringes upon the basic human rights of these women. I shudder to think that the prime minister/police/Umno should take this silence from MCA as acquiescence and consequently a green light for them to implement and enforce Islamic "uniformity" upon the rest of the civil servants, students, uniformed bodies, and perhaps eventually even upon the public at large.

As part of the BN component representing ethnic Chinese, I would expect MCA to lead in championing this basic human right of not being forced to attire oneself with another's religious accouterments.

I do not expect MCA to cower in cravenly silence, sweeping the matter under the proverbial " isu sensitif " (sensitive issue) rug at the expense of the rakyat. Please be seen to be doing the work you are mandated to do within the government.
