Coming together for Maulud Nabi, Good Friday, New Year

This year, Maulud Nabi and Good Friday are close. Maulud is today while Good Friday falls on April 14, the same day as the Hindu New Year.

This is significant because it gives the opportunity for Muslims, Christians and Hindus who believe in the oneness of God and humankind to celebrate the life and love of Prophet Muhammad, Jesus Christ and the ancient sages of Hinduism.

They are the greatest men who have ever walked on this Earth and all taught the same message of love and goodness for all humans. They are the Spirits of Truth, the Holy Spirits of God.

It may not be Muslim tradition to celebrate Good Friday because Muslims do not believe Christ bled for our misdeeds. But there is nothing wrong for Muslims to honour Christ on Easter Sunday, April 16, because Muslims always uphold Christ as their Divine Messenger like Muhammad.

As for Christians and other non-Muslims, there is nothing wrong with celebrating the birth of Muhammad. Muhammad was, like Christ, the Divine Messenger and Prince of Peace.

As a non-Muslim, I take the opportunity to observe a silent prayer on Maulud Nabi, in honour of Muhammad and his love for us all. He never expected anything from us and always gave us the best of God's gifts.

I also take the opportunity to pray for all true humanitarians, Muslim and non-Muslim, to stand up and join hands to save the world from its troubles and false teachings which have turned some into monsters breathing hate and violence across the globe.

We must work together to destroy this evil and teach the world the true religion of love found in the hearts of all humanitarians.
