Does Mahathir really care about losing the Tg Piai seat?

LETTER | You think Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad really cares about losing the Tanjung Piai seat? He would rather lose that one seat than be seen to have buckled to his knees by the threat of the voters to vote the opposition.

You can scream until the cows come home, but he can easily replace a lost parliamentary seat by enticing another political leapfrog to join his party. Even wild horses will not force him to relinquish his PM post at the end of his two-year term.

No doubt Tanjung Piai is a pain in his butt, but as a doctor, Mahathir knows what to do. He will choose to surgically remove it, though there is no guarantee future Tanjung Piais can occur again, anytime.

But before Pakatan Harapan’s medical condition reaches the critical stage 4, Mahathir will now, hopefully without any more distraction, do what he set off to do but with acceleration, regardless of whether before his two-year term is up or GE15.

Before his 94-year-old mind reaches its expiry date, many of us can see right through it now. He is set to lay the framework for the metamorphosis of Barisan Nasional version 2.0 with PPBM and PAS as its wingmen.

Pakatan Harapan will start crumbling from the moment the result of Tanjung Piai is announced. It will no longer be the Reformasi Movement, as it cannot afford to take prisoners.

All prisoners, including the lame ducks, must be eliminated. They will revive Anwarista sentiments with the political war cry, "You are either with us or against us." No ifs, no buts, but can consider butts.

The Azmin Ali-Anwar Ibrahim PKR rivalry will continue with acceleration. The DAP will by now realise it is not erectile deficiency it is suffering in Pakatan Harapan. With the Malay partners each using the R&R cards to gain grassroots support, they will no longer stand up for them. DAP's erectile deficiency problem will now become impotent.

By now, if Pakatan Harapan is still struggling with the economy and can no longer blame it on the 1MDB, and worse still they have already burned their election manifesto, it cannot rely on another divine intervention.

Come GE15, Mahathir doesn't need to do a coup de grâce. Pakatan Harapan will self destruct when its dominant component parties start to push aside the minion parties for their seats in an unbecoming manner - one for you and two for me. And like any Hollywood sequel, it will signal another epic blockbuster titled "The Return of the Kleptocrats."
