LETTER | I refer to the Malaysiakini article The problem with calling Anwar '8th PM' - Tian Chua.

The argument or ratio fundamentalis postulated by Tian Chua is seriously flawed.

He must realise that his unconventional bravado of bygone times whence he rolled on the tarred road at the heights of the reformasi episodes actually did not get him into the pathway of political stardom.

It was the people's recognition of his support for the Anwar Ibrahim cause that gave him passage on that political route.

Likewise, in GE14, it was the people's belief that Anwar would eventually be consecrated as the leader of the nation that contributed to the united ousting of BN.

And sensing the rakyat's determined hopes, Anwar's royal pardon was on the slate.

And it was also this hope of having Anwar back as their leader of the nation that gave momentum to the "Mahathir miracle" which was perceived widely as the interim fit to floor a Goliath government.

So for Tian Chua to outright dismiss the public's voice of influence that determines who our prime minister will be, is flawed.

In fact it is very mischievous of Tian Chua to even argue that the rakyat have no business in deciding who they want as the prime minister.

Yes, the political coalition picks a candidate to be prime minister.

But that decision is not divorced or independent from taking into consideration the ground sentiments prevalent among voters.
