I refer to the report Zam: No 'live' TV for racist Malaysians .

The information minister is insulting to say the least. If the Malaysian public is immature and unable to process information then it is only the fault of the BN government for in the last 20 years of ruling, they have sought to black out any news which is deemed negative or bad publicity.

The Malaysian public do not know how to process information and make judgments for themselves because we are not used to being an informed society. The rakyat rely on 'coffee shop news' and rumours which - in the Malaysian context - has more information then what we get from the BN-owned newspapers. As information minister, he should know that Malaysians are fed up with being fed propaganda and many, like me, don't buy the mainstream newspapers and even if we do, it is to read the sports section. Young professionals increasingly rely on the Internet.

Malaysia will forever at the backwaters and uncompetitive if we think we are able to shield the public from information and news. I read the Hansard text whenever there is anything controversial so that I know where the MPs stand on certain issues. There is nothing very intelligent in what they say and much of what is discussed and said in our Malaysian Parliament is quite embarrassing and childish.

Name calling and verbal abuse is something I expect from my seven-year-old - not from our members of parliament. The honorable information minister is not known for his words of wisdom and fair comment that would make anyone sit up to listen. So perhaps, the less said from the information ministry the better.
