Journalist MGG Pillai was a symbol of courage and freedom of the press.

His presence will be sorely missed. An old man who continued the good fight against all that is wrong in his country, criticising and exhorting his countrymen while others remained silent.

A man who wrote without fear or favour, a beacon in the dark ages of Malaysian journalism. Will we see others like him in our lifetime?
