I refer to the letter Pak Lah right in 'toe the line rule' by Henry.

I believe comparing a jet plane in flight to voting with one's conscience a bit farfetched. I totally agree that MPs should adhere to party lines which are stated clearly in their manifestoes.

However, when issues about morality, competency and integrity arise, then an MP in answerable not only to his or her party but foremost to his or her constituents.

Henry also contradicts his statement when he states that 'Voting by conscience only applies to certain issues which cut across all lines regardless of race and religion, eg, moral issues like abortion or streaming in education and so forth.' But isn't integrity a moral issue?

And don't worry about us Malaysians reading too much into the Financial Times or the Wall Street Journal. We tend to ignore any advice from developed democracies since we believe ours is unique. Indeed, so unique that accountability is a non-issue whereas the dress code is. Isn't that farcical?
