Although the opposition has won nine seats during the recent Sarawak state elections, I was shocked that local daily Eastern Times refuse to publish photographs of the winning opposition candidates. All I saw was the rocket symbol. This is a very clear bias and a discriminatory way of reporting.

The national papers, meanwhile, had no qualms over publishing photos of the opposition candidates and they included The Star and Sin Chew Daily . In the Eastern Times , there were only photos of Chief Minister Taib Mahmud getting birthday greetings from his cronies.

There was no news of Kuching's victorious opposition candidate. The main news instead were the post-mortem on Supp's loss and BN's rural area victory results.

Since this paper practices double standards, I have decided to terminate my subscription. Enough is enough. Maybe I will switch to Borneo Post , or rely on web-based news.
