Malaysians love rushing
I refer to JTB's letter that AirAsia passengers needs the rotan and totally disagree with him. Sure we all rush and squeeze and cut queues but what is the underlying reason?
Lack of proper planning and enforcement. Take one example, the customs and immigration control down south. On the Johor side, mayhem. The Singapore side? Orderly.
If one is inclined to think that this is an indication of the country than take it as a slap on our own face.
The Johor bus station and Johor bus terminal at the immigration complex is another example. Orderly queues for Singapore buses but mayhem at the Malaysian buses. Mind you, both are located on Malaysian soil.
The management of the Singapore buses impose strict management and supervisory controls. Needless to say, these are lacking for the Malaysian buses. Do we blame the passengers or the company that provide the services?
Actually, there is no 'good, bad or ugly' about Malaysian manners. There's just bad, the ugly and the real ugly.
The bad - Rushing into a lift before the occupants comes out. Same for the trains and buses.
The ugly - Getting into a lift, then crowding around the button panel because it is near the door and easier to get out when the time comes.
The real ugly - Not giving way to those at the back of the lift when the lift reaches their floors. The courteous thing would be to get out of the lift, let the occupants pass, then get in again.
