I refer to the letter EC chairman: Shame on you .

I am no lawyer nor even a learned person but I know the Election Commission never has nor is likely to acquire any executive powers. That being the governing premise, I cannot reasonably see how the EC chairman could have had what he wanted merely by bringing into the open what he perceived to be the many 'room for improvements' (a.k.a. shortcomings) found in the de facto ruling election processes and structural setup.

It is too archaic to suggest that he should resign because of flaws found in the recent Sarawak state election. Pushing this suggestion to its logical conclusion then we might as well call for the incumbent auditor-general to resign, too, because he found abuses in local authorities' financial management and, of course, our IGP as well because crimes still exist and so on for all heads of government agencies.

Come on, bosses of government agencies who have the courage to lay bare their charges' shortcomings and weaknesses are gutsy fellas whom, I believe, take it upon themselves to 'kick start' (if not to 'restart') improvements (and yet more improvements) from both within and without, right?

I always believed that if you could define your problems, 50 percent of the problems are solved. Knowing the problems is one thing. But being able to, and with gutsy conviction too, to define them openly is altogether another kettle of fish!

I beg to differ. I would and am saying... 'Hooray" to the likes of the EC chairman.
