I agree with Chew Swee Yoke . Cherie Blair should have been allowed to argue in our courts. It is a pity the Bar Council objected to this without any consensus from the local lawyers. I am sure many of us would have loved to hear a Queen's Counsel in action.

With the sad state of advocacy among lawyers today would it not be beneficial for us to learn a thing or two from her? There may be competent lawyers in Malaysia who may be better than Blair but the client chose her to represent them. Don't they have a right to decide on the competency of a particular lawyer?

Who is the Bar to tell the client on the choice of their advocate? As Chew rightly pointed out, lead counsel Cyrus Das was humble enough to acknowledge that Blair is the right person for this case. So why can't the Bar respect his,and his client's wishes?

Sad to say, I am not with the Bar Council on this. Blair should have been allowed to represent her client in our local courts.
