It seems strange to me that an American committee can unearth evidence of payment to the disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff when our people apparently could not.

Indeed, our parliament has been told in no uncertain terms that there is no evidence of any payment being made. This absurd denial was in response to questions raised in the House following our former PM stating that a payment had been made.

It is often expedient, and sometimes necessary, for those in power to use lies and subterfuge. But it is insulting to our intelligence to be told that our country did not pay for our illustrious PM to meet with the most powerful man on earth, especially when he has acknowledged that this happened.

Unfortunately, and true to form, Dr M was economical with the truth. The hardworking Malaysian taxpayer was the source of the funds.

Needless to say, the pictures that adorned our front pages were of better quality than those one could have made with PhotoShop (and worth every sen!). As our hearts swelled with pride at seeing our leader on the world stage, we should have known that this was arranged the usual way.
