The fact that MV Agusta continues to make a loss points to the failure of the Proton management team in turning it around after purchase. What happened? The management team is not capable? Then why keep them? Who should be accountable?

Many a time a lot of our GLCs' failures are due to their management capability. They always operate under a protective policy environment. They can only perform with government protection and without competition. Then they will raise the prices to ensure handsome profits as proven by Proton under Tengku Mahaleel's time. TNB is also trying to do this now.

Succeed in the competitive environment? No GLC has achieved this yet if my observation is right. Look at MAS versus AirAsia, TM compared to Maxis and Digi. Maybe they are reversing the trend now but the results are yet to be seen.

One of the problem we are facing is that the managements of GLCs are controlled by non-Malaysians or inexperienced persons. When we put in Malaysian money in a company but it is not run by our own people, the risk is extremely high. When we put in money and the company is run by an inexperienced management, the risk is equally high.
