Textbook will polarise students further
I refer to your report MPs up in arms, Mustapa grilled over textbook .
In this modern age of information technology, it is absurd that some people still believe that the youth of today will all be as naive as the Ethnic Relations textbook authors seem to want to make them out to be.
This, and other similar attempts to whitewash the past, will simply result in the polarisation of those who want to desperately believe and those who are forced to question. Regardless of where their chosen path will take them, the seeds for discontent have been sown again.
Why is it so difficult to understand that unless the past is put to rest to the satisfaction of all parties, it will come back to haunt us?
And why also is it so difficult to understand that people work better together when they all believe that they have an equal place under the sun?
