As the debate continues on whether or not the penalty for renouncing Islam is death, I hope that all parties will keep in mind that we're talking about taking the life of another human being here, not some pesky fly or stray dog.

Another human being no different from you or me, with his own hopes and fears, trying to be a good person and make the right decisions. Another human being whose life is no less sacred than yours or mine.

What difference does it make if the person was born a Muslim or converted as an adult? Just because someone consciously chooses to embrace Islam although fully aware of the punishment for apostasy, it doesn't decrease the value of his life.

He is still somebody in the eyes of God.
