I would like to refer to an article Ibans 'marginalised, sidelined, discriminated' .

This is very much true. In fact it is getting worse under this present government. I will just give your readers one of the many examples to prove this glaring discrimination against the Ibans.

On May 6, 2005, a group of Dayaks (Ibans, Bidayuhs, Kayans, Kelabits, etc) submitted an application to form Malaysian Dayak Congress (MDC)

After so many queries including through personal visits, correspondence and telephone calls and pressures from various quarters, the Registrar of Societies finally made a decision to reject the application. No reason was given in its letter dated July 19, 2006.

The authorities simply do not want the Dayaks to have their own political party, the way the Malays have Umno, the Chinese the MCA, the Indians the MIC and the Kadazandusun their Upko.

If you may recall, it was the Dayaks who had helped save Malaysia from the communists, the Indonesian confrontation and the May 13 riots in the days after Merdeka. And this is how the Dayaks are being treated for sacrificing their lives?

Although the prime minister has urged the promoters to appeal against the decision of the Registrar of Societies, there is not much hope for MDC to see the light of the day under this present government.
