Before we go on judging who is right and who is wrong based on the Bible or Quran teachings, first and foremost, are we doing enough based on our own teachings to lead those astray back to their respective religion? Or we can just go on pointing out the verses in the Bible or Quran or any other religious books to prove our point?
Irregardless of whichever religion, man was created equal in the eyes of the Beholder. The only difference is how we look, behave and speak. But because of this very point, we have a long history of differences to the level of ethnic cleansing. How far do we want to justify our actions before the end of humanity? Maybe, I'm taking things a little far-fetched.
Let's focus on our domestic problems at hand. We have some cases of apostasy which at the moment is still a sensitive issue which requires more in-depth discussions and thoughts. Crime and murder is on the rise from snatch thieves to rape cases. We continue to cry for justice but I guess the punishment is not severe to deter future crimes.
We have an ex-PM who thinks he made a big mistake in appointing Pak Lah as the current PM and decides to go to war by using the media. A little too much to digest maybe, then why not we look at even smaller problems like pot holes, dirty water, polluted rivers and bad town planning like insufficient car parks (this was probably done on purpose in order to ensure that the traffic police and town councils hit their respective 'saman' targets easily.
I guess I have diverted from our main topic of homosexuality. What I'm getting at is we Malaysians are so used to living by the day that we only look at current 'hot' news. What about the past cases of CBTs (criminal breach of trust) and corruption which was brought up to court without any conclusion?
To name a few, Soh Chee Wen use to be a strong supporter of the ex-MCA president. The billionaire who supposedly owed a lot of money. What happen to all these cases? This were deemed as public interest and I'm sure we all want justice to be served. I hope malaysiakini will also look into these, and ensure that things won't be swept so easily under the carpet.
Gays, lesbians or anyone not conforming to the norms of the society are still very much human like us. Before we pass judgement or serve the law unto them, we should try our best to rehabilitate them. As long as there is hope, faith, patience and kindness in us, I'm sure in time to come we will make the world a better place for all humanity.
