Allow gays their choice of partners
In reference to Don't insist on legalisation of 'gay marriage' by HL Too, I would just like to clarify a few points. I still fail to understand the prejudice directed at homosexuals. Sure, they are not what we 'normal' people are. But is that reason enough to push them away? They are human beings with a different scene of interest.
Okay, reason me this. Which is the greater loss? A homosexual with a healthy lifestyle contributing to the country as we all do or a straight (by straight I mean a non-homosexual person) drug addict, drunk driver, corrupt politician? As far as I can see these 'homosexuals' are getting on with their lives and not disturbing society as in the case mentioned above. So who should we be arguing about now? Who is destroying or harming our Malaysia?
Is is so bad that two people with similar interests live their lives together? Is it so bad that it overshadows the rapists and child molesters we have in Malaysia here? Are we actually saying that rapists are on a higher level than homosexuals?
As to the question of religion, it is up to them to choose. How they decide to interpret their religion is up to them. They are not harming anyone by their acts. If you think it it's uncomfortable to look at a pair of homosexuals, then just don't. It's just as bad to look at beggars. But we don't do anything to beggar's right?
The key here is to allow them to have a way of life as they would like to live. Denying them of it is going to make them suffer, feel unwanted. Accepting them would perhaps discomfort you, but not to any level faced by them.
Let us think for ourselves what is right and wrong. Think of how you would feel if you were denied the liberty to choose who you would want to spend the rest of your life with. Because that is exactly how they feel.
