I refer to the letter A true blue Malaysia boleh story by Zara Davies Abdul Rahman. I strongly agree with her regarding the lethargic attitude when you call to an emergency aid number. It is very hard to get a prompt response.

Of course, I believe that there are some staff - 10 percent of the total workforce - who always make the things worse. They have no urgency in dealing with emergencies.

My suggestion is that this 10 percent must be dealt with seriously so that incidents such as those described by Zara Davies will happen less. But the funny thing is that, this 10 percent is very hard to get rid of.

I have previously worked in the Public Works Department (JKR) and I know how hard it is to get rid of this 10 percent, these rotten apples. This 10 percent of staff are the 'problem creators'. As such we assign them tasks which are not vital.

But in a department, every point is inter-linked and inter-dependent. A breakdown in one area will cause the whole chain to collapse. Therefore, every link is important. Meaning that if this 10 percent of staff cannot be dealt with, you will still see incidents such as those recounted by Zara Davies happening again.
