My first response upon reading Zara Davies Abdul Rahman's A true blue Malaysia Boleh story was shocked and anger at the way things turned out. As she has clearly pointed out, the death of the victim may have been avoided if the person in charge of the control centre had been more responsible.

Having been in the same situation before, although with less tragic results, I truly understand her meaning of 'kecuaian' and a 'no urgency' attitude. Being stupid and having a lack of regard for another human being's life simply means that these people are not fit to be in an emergency response team. Putting it simply, how different are they from cold-blooded murderers?

I truly hope that the government will look into this 'tidak apa' attitude of the emergency response unit personnel at the Klang Hospital. Stern disciplinary action must be taken against the main culprits if they had a hand in sealing the victim's fate.

This action must not be a mere warning or any some other light slap on the wrist but instead must be a firm and decisive action that will act as a reminder to the rest.

Kudos to Zara Davies for bringing this issue up. I believe incidents such as she described are not uncommon news anymore. How long can the government cover the growing bump under the carpet?

It's time for our government to change. What's the point of shouting 'Malaysia Boleh' while humanity withers in Bolehland?
