I refer to the letter Medical colleges need strict review . Now, what is wrong with a foreign medical degree? Absolutely nothing!
At least that is what I have learnt from my experience during my medical studies abroad. The root of the problem is not the medical institution itself as most of them have reputations and history that would make our very own local universities appear pale in comparison.
It is the quality of our students that are being shipped overseas by the thousands due to lack of opportunities at home that should be monitored. Most people here complain of our healthcare providers not even knowing where the attending doctor studied.
Assumptions are made and foreign medical grads are blamed as always, but in reality, it is these foreign grads, irregardless if they spent in dollars or rupees, that are the ones that can actually string a proper sentence in English.
I for one would dare not lay my life in the hands of a doctor who is not fluent in the language most medical text books are written in, would you?
