I refer to the letter US$50 bil loan: M'sian gov't not that stupid .

When Jeffrey asserts that the Malaysian government is not so stupid as to go about getting a US$50 billion loan through dubious companies, I hope his observations are made with inside knowledge or authority.

Otherwise, I would not be so quick to give the benefit of the doubt though preposterous it may seem.

Stupidity in this case means doing things in a roundabout way when the easiest way is clear to all the intelligent ones. You may not think so but was our government clever when it purchased those submarines through a broker and paying them US$100 million?

In the case of the US$50 billion loan, copies of letters of representation have been produced, names have been named. If they are forgeries, isn't it incumbent upon the aggrieved parties to take action against the claimant and issue denials?

Isn't Bank Negara not concerned that some 'stupid' individual, bank or country might want to lend us money on the basis of these letters?

Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction, and anyway, the less stupid ones like a good read if nothing else. Damaging for our country, yes - only if it's true.
