When Malaysia's top cop, IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan stated that 'even though he (Datuk Albert Mah) retired 30 years ago, I still feel I have lost a good boss who taught me everything,' he was was echoing what all peace loving Malaysians felt that we have lost a good man who served both King and country brilliantly.

For the record, Musa had worked under the late Datuk Albert in Malacca and Penang. When I prayed for him during intercession at St Paul's Church, Petaling Jaya on Sunday (when he was still in a coma), I like many, which included his loved ones in church that day, were praying for a miracle.

That our friend and brother in the Lord would be healed and would return home to his loved ones. But the sovereign Lord had other plans for Albert. Datuk Albert Mah was taken to be with the Lord the next day.

Quite rightly, a foundation to fight crime has been set up in his name by the residents of Section 5 in Petaling Jaya and will be known as the 'Albert Mah Foundation to Fight Crime'. It is indeed ironic that even in death, the top cop-turned-politician will be remembered for crime-fighting.

His death should not be in vain and I believe the Malaysian police force under the leadership of Musa will leave no stone unturned to get those who robbed Mah at his home and assaulted him leading to his death.

It is time to exert real pressure to address the rising crime index which has overshadowed our unpredictable and dismal stock exchange! It is time to discard the 'kid gloves' approach and deal with those who have been behind the drastic rise in crime in Malaysia.

There must be no safe haven for them here, no opportunity for them to rob, rape and plunder and then leave the country through 'blind spots' along the country's western coastline or northern border - there must be no chance whatsoever.

Nothing short of a continued and intensified nationwide crackdown on crime is acceptable. We must show all that there will be zero tolerance for crime in Malaysia. Those responsible for Mah's death must be caught and dealt with. A man's abode was intruded, his property and belongings robbed and his life taken.

Justice must be done.

Not only just for his widow, his five children, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren but for the 26 million Malaysians who are counting on Malaysia's crime fighting system and apparatus to go on an all out uncompromising war against crime.
