I refer to the letter Malaysia's foreign policy neither fair or just . The writer said, 'a bona-fide Islamic country is one which has a foreign policy that is just and fair to all of humanity. Not a foreign policy that depends on the stewardship of the rich and powerful and is willing to authorise the ravaging of a weak and defenceless nation'.

He also said, 'In my opinion, Malaysia's foreign policy is not actually favourable to Muslims as the writer seems to preach but is actually favourable to the Judeo-Christian world order'.

What does this writer actually mean by this? So is the so called Judeo-Christian world order so bad and inferior and unjust to all humanity? Looks like some think that the Islamic world order is much better, apart from being from just and fair. In my opinion, the so-called Judeo-Christian world order does not really exist, because Western countries separate religion from politics.

The writer also said: 'Malaysia's decision to send peacekeepers to East Timor was actually frowned upon by most Muslims in Malaysia yet the Malaysian government still went ahead. On Nov 9,1996, angry crowds of Malaysians disrupted the Asia-Pacific Conference on East Timor (Apcet II) meeting held at the Asia Hotel. Yet their anger fell on deaf ears as the Malaysian government continued to support East Timor's bid for independence.'

So according to the Islamic world order that is just and fair, angry mobs are well within their right to disrupt and threaten any group which is legitimately having a peaceful discussion? So the Islamic world order is only in favour of Muslim minorities that seek independence from secular countries? The writer states that Muslims are angry because of the double standards applied to Indonesia when the US and Europe gave assistance to brutally suppress the resistance movement of the Jolo Muslims.

So just because the so-called Judeo-Christians suppressed the resistance movement of the Jolo Muslims, does this give anyone the right to take revenge on the East Timorese people just because they are non-Muslims seeking independence from a Muslim country?

One must draw the line when such supremacist beliefs manifest themselves in the administration of a country. When this happens, the minorities, and the even the some part of the majority, will be discriminated against if they don't share the views of the establishment or the majority. This is already happening in a moderate Muslim country like Malaysia.

Everyone has the right to live in the way they choose, provided that they do not violate the rights of other individuals. Every citizen has the right to be treated fairly, justly and equally in the eyes of the law and can seek redress (usually in the form of lawsuits) against any offending party who violate such rights. Now, to me and to most other right-thinking individuals, this sort of world order is much better.
