I refer to the letter IDR success not an impossibility . The economical situation in Malaysia is no longer governed by good business ethics and norms (of which motivation of profit is the main order of the day).

What we have is unsure policies, inefficient government departments, corruption, uncoordinated government departments, little Napoleons everywhere, favouritism etc.

Yes, we do have all the resources, the space, the people, the politically stability (which I perceived differently). All these are indeed ingredients for businesses to run but in no way are they a recipe for success, otherwise we would have been a Singapore a long time ago.

We had all these 'ingredients' a long time ago and much more than Singapore could ever have had. We failed even though we had much more than that tiny red dot.

It took less than 30 years for Singapore to be a First World nations but it took our government that long to even realise we need changes for the better and even that is still limited to 'thinking about it' without any long-term enforcement or plans.

All these factors considered, it's no surprise we have the second-lowest figure for FDI in the region and the situation is not going to go into reverse anytime soon. The economy won't go into a free fall but lots need to be done before anything of substance can be seen.

Let's not forget that we are surrounded by countries with more or less the same business potential.
