I refer to the letter Apology demanded from racist minister .
It is a well-known fact that in Malaysia they are many who don't accept reality by claiming that the Hindustanis are a different 'race' from the Indians. They simply refuse to accept that the term Hindustan means the land of the Hindus.
Just because actors and actresses in Hindi films are very fair and good-looking, they think that they look like their actors and actresses - they must be dreaming. As such, they feel that since most Indian Malaysians don't look like the Hindi actors, they are not of the same race.
I am appalled by the minister's mentality and that despite being highly-educated and being a minister, he discriminates between a dark-skinned Indian as 'low-class' Indian and a fair-skinned Indian as 'high class'.
He fails to realise that there are very fair-skinned Malays who, by the same reasoning, can be considered 'high-class' Malays and the dark-skinned Malays as 'low class 'Malays.
Doesn't that sound irrational and stupid in this ICT age?
Since he was in America, he would have seen for himself that a lot of Indians who are IT professionals there are fair-skinned. For him, of course, they were the Hindustanis who are a totally different 'race' from the Indians.
But for the Americans they are Indians - they don't know the term Hindustan.
