I refer to the letters Charge Indah Water with murder and Indah Water ruining future lives .

To put the blame solely on Indah Water is a bit unfair. IWK has been given thousands of contravention licences by the Director-General of the Department of Environment since its inception.

Almost all the sewerage treatment plants run by IWK is fully protected by the law and allowed to discharge sewage within the stipulated standards set by the environmental laws.

So who should be blamed for sewage in the river? The DOE which is supposed to carry out enforcement on all polluting sources is to be blamed for this discrepancy.

How could an authority, which is in charge of protecting our environment, just simply issue licences to pollute to polluters?

The money spent by the government under the 8MP and 9MP to clean up our rivers has just been wasted by the irreversible actions of the DOE.
