Parang attacks! No parking after 10pm
I read with amazement the attitude of the Director of Tengku Ampuan Hospital in Klang, Dr Yahya Baba on the parang attack on a 23-year-old girl in the hospital's public car park.
The attack took place at about 10pm and the unfortunate girl was severely slashed and nearly lost her wrist ( New Straits Times report, May 9, 2007).
The director's comment was "She shouldn't have been in the car park at such an hour" shows how indifferent and callous the people in charge and responsible for public health and welfare has become.
Has it not occurred to Dr Yahya that a general hospital is open 24 hours and the car park is exactly what it means - a place to park your car on any hospital business.
Following from his statement therefore there should be a sign in the hospital car park - 'Parang attacks! Do not park here after 10 pm'.
