This weekend we will see many grateful children and families celebrating Mother's Day. It is perhaps their way to say "Mommy I love you and thank you for all you have done for me".

However, I cannot help but feel poignant and sad for the seven children of P Marimuthu, being separated from their mother Raimah Bibi.

What's disappointing is that we have people who believe that this woman's affidavit to hand over her children and live separately was given voluntarily with no duress.

Raimah Bibi was incarcerated in a rehabilitation camp in Ulu Yam when she 'made' the affidavit.

She is still in the same Ulu Yam camp attending classes to be properly rehabilitated now. She has been married for the past 21 years and has mothered seven children with Marimuthu and has led the life of a Hindu.

Look at the big picture, there is no way she is going to be allowed to profess the religion of her choice.

Can't you see that she is making the ultimate sacrifice; which I dare say only a mother would do, by professing that she is still a Muslim; so that the children can be with the father.

She can sign an affidavit as thick as a phone book for all I care, but I am not at all persuaded that it was done voluntarily, not under the circumstances she is and was kept in.
