I fail to understand why Imnitm should be so upset about the reaction to the Maybank episode.

It was a simple issue. A commercial entity had decided to favour one ethnic group in handing out business in a back-handed way to discriminate against another ethnic group. Some senior executives in the bank have forgotten that their primary function is to make profit for their shareholders.

Instead, they decided to discriminate against non-bumiputera for reasons only they know. Naturally, non-bumiputeras were affronted by the bank's decision, since withdrawn.

We are aware that TNB and Syabas also have discriminatory policies. Here we have no alternative. But banking is a different matter all together. We do not need Maybank. It is not a monopoly. It cannot be so arrogant. Obviously someone forgot.

There may be bloggers going off in a tangent throwing verbal brickbats at bumiputeras and Malays. This is wrong. This is a decision made by executives in Maybank. Who knows, those who made the decision could very well be non-bumiputera executive.

Besides, the bumiputeras at large were not a party to this decision. This is about a stupid decision by giant corporate entity. A giant entity that has forgotten that its depositors are Malaysians of various ethnic origins.

If you take exception to what these people write or say, than take them on directly. If you chose to feel hatred toward all non-Malays because of what someone wrote, nobody can stop you. Anyway, I have a feeling Imnitm was just looking for an excuse.
