Dear Pak Lah,

Your recent marriage should be cause for celebration and good wishes should be conveyed to you and your new wife. Everyone hopes to find happiness in their life partner so that they will not end up lonely till the last day of their lives. You are no exception as you have said you believe your new wife can look after you and be your companion. Your happiness is shown in all the local papers.

As much as I would like to congratulate you and your new wife, I cannot help thinking of some of the 'rakyat' who are suffering like Lina Joy, Raimah Bibi, Revathi, etc. You are already in your second marriage and yet, people like Lina Joy, cannot even be given a chance to taste the happiness of her first marriage.

People like Raimah Bibi and Revathi, who already have their happiness, but were forced to separated from their happy families. There are many others who cannot be with their loved ones just because they are from different religions. Why must the form of Islam being practised in this country be so compared to other Muslim countries like Indonesia, Turkey, etc?

How then can you enjoy your marriage while some of the 'rakyat' suffer? What are you going to do so that these people will have their happiness just like you? These issues are already causing more disunity in the country. One just cannot help feeling that you are allowing the religious authorities to rule the country.

Since you have said that 'A happy prime minister can do a lot of good work', I certainly hope you have already come down from cloud nine and will be doing something very soon so that the 'rakyat' do not suffer anymore. You are the only person who can help the 'rakyat' now. If the 'rakyat' cannot even depend on you, who then can they depend upon?

As long as there are 'rakyat' who are suffering, it is just too difficult for me to wish you and your new wife the happiness that every married couple deserve.
