I refer to the malaysiakini report RM100 mil to combat flash floods in KL .

As a taxpayer and a resident of the capital, I have very serious doubts that the hard-earned rakyat's money will do much. It probably will go down the drain.

In recent years , we have spent billions on the flood controls in the capital, including advanced flood detection and alert systems. One of the systems, the Smart tunnel, also strutted Malaysia into the world spotlight by being the first of its kind in this part of the world.

What happened to these measures in the recent floods? Who is answerable? The head of DBKL or the head of the DID or the Federal Territory Minister? Unless we have someone to tell us exactly what the RM100 million will achieve and who will be held accountable, it will be money down the drain.

Mr Prime Minister, please designate someone in authority to be the responsible person for handling drainage in all its aspects within the capital of Kuala Lumpur.

This will put a stop to laughs by foreign tourists when they tour our watery capital.
