Dayak leaders frustrated, turn to Umno
I refer to the malaysiakini report Selfish PBB leaders do not want Umno in Sarawak .
Some Dayak leaders from the de-registered Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak are now joining others in trying to bring Umno into Sarawak. These Dayak leaders are frustrated as they are not allowed to form their own political party, the yet-to-be-registered Malaysian Dayak Congress following the de-registration of their party, PBDS.
The state leaders in Parti Bersatu Bumiputra (PBB), the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) are against the registration of the Malaysian Dayak Congress. They communicated their 'anti-MDC' stand to the federal authorities, which in turn, rejected MDC' registration application citing 'anti national elements' under Article 7 (3) of the Societies Act 1966 as the reason.
Now disappointed and frustrated, some of the ex-PBDS leaders and supporters of the Malaysian Dayak Congress are trying to bring Umno into Sarawak at all cost. These Dayak leaders do not want to join SPDP and PRS as they are small parties.
Neither do they want to join PBB as it is a 'selfish party'. They prefer Umno, because it is the biggest party and the backbone of the federal government. They are sure that their interests are protected.
