I refer to malaysiakini report 'Bloodshed' in Parliament .

Many a report and letters have condemned the slaughter of cows and goats in Parliament. But I see it in a different light.

As almost all Malaysians have come to know, our nation has lost most of its competitive edge in most of the global fields. We were once football giants in this region and today we are just minnows compared even to the tiny dot down south. We reigned supreme in badminton in early 60s or 70s but today the Thomas Cup is a distant dream.

Our education system is in a confused state, producing graduates who can't string a complete sentence in English and many of them end as unemployable. Neither could we boast of an economy that is strong enough not to go a begging from the 'tiny red dot' to support the Iskandar Development Region project.

In short, we have nothing to shout about and many investors or tourists have bypassed us.

Thus to attract attention, we resorted to do stupid things. We finance Mat Rempits to parachute down to the North Pole. Then we have the biggest dumpling made for our own version of the Guinness Book of Records. The list goes on.
