So Ctos has with them information about every ' bad financial deed ' that a Malaysian man or woman has done be it non-payments or late payments to financial institutions for loans or credit cards, insolvency or bankruptcy, etc.

How did Ctos receive and collate all of this information if the banks and related parties themselves did not provide all these intricate details to Ctos? And if they did, then the banks and financial institutions are guilty of a heinous crime - that of breaking the confidentiality code between a banker and customer.

This is akin to a sacred confidential relationship between a patient and his doctor being compromised. Imagine if tomorrow someone comes along and sets up a company called Htos (Health Tip-Off Services) and in their database they compile the health statistics of every man, woman or child.

I am talking about an independent third party doing this, not hospitals or clinics who do this for follow-up treatment and history of their patients. Now in Htos' database there would be the history of every heart patient, diabetic, Aids and HIV sufferer, amputee ( even details of which leg, arm or finger), etc.

And then all that an insurance company would need to do would be to fork out RM25 (payment to Htos) to confirm if a poor soul is insurable or not. Wives/husbands-to-be can then pay a small fee to Htos to find out if their future spouse is free from any communicable disease.

At the other the end of the cynical scale, we will have undertakers buzzing around the homes of the terminally ill to solicit for funeral services ... the list is endless.

So it is on the moral standpoint that a service like Ctos should not be in existence. In fact if you examine the facts closely, there could also be a strong human rights infringement involving Ctos.

And a final word, Ctos - if you are charging the public for the information you hand out, can I in turn charge you an annual fee, say in the region of RM20, for the information on me that you store in your databank and use so casually? After all, you have not received my permission to do so, have you?
