I refer to the letter Marina Mahathir ideal for National Unity Panel which was in response to my letter .
I think K Temoc has got the wrong impression of my suggestion to pack the panel with more impressive people. My suggestion was aimed for two distinctive, separate purposes.
Firstly, it is to ensure that the government will listen to the suggestions that are forwarded by the panel as it will be difficult to ignore influential people. But maybe I am a bit nave in thinking so considering what has happened to the IPCMC malarkey.
Secondly, which is equally if not more important, it is to ensure that those who control the nation's top corporations - both private and public - will be able assimilate the spirit of the need for a united and unified country in their own organisations.
Organisations such as Petronas, which control massive amounts of national wealth, but even MPs are not privy to its workings. These organisations' employment ratios do not reflect the country's population make-up and there is resentment that national wealth is not enjoyed by all communities.
Hopefully, if these mandarins and power-brokers sit together on a panel like the National Unity Panel, some deliberations may rub off on them and they may be inclined to pursue a more Malaysian policy in the organisation.
That was the main point of my letter, which I think many may have missed including the writer. Hopefully, it is better clarified now.
