Nothing wrong being security guard in Spore
I refer to the letter Forget not the Singapore First Infantry Regiment .
M Ahmad's stated that Malays and Indians in Singapore are only good enough for security guards' posts. Question is, what's wrong with that? Singapore Malays do not ask for handout unlike those in Malaysia. They earn their keep with dignity.
It has been an undeniable fact known to the world that Singapore practice meritocracy. The government selects the brightest students irregardless of race or religion for scholarship awards both for local and renowned foreign universities.
Do Singapore universities have quota for Chinese studies? The answer is 'no'. Can universities in Malaysia say the same with regards to their bumiputera students?
I wonder why M Ahmad is bleating about the plight of Malays in Singapore (on unfounded grounds) when recent statistics in Malaysia show that the biggest group of citizens migrating overseas are the Malays!
Oh, and there are plenty of Chinese security guards in Singapore as well, working alongside their Malay and Indian colleagues. You're more than welcome to Singapore to see for yourself.
