As the population of the non-Malays (much to my dislike in using this term) is fast dwindling, it can only spell greater marginalisation and discrimination for us in the years to come.

At around 30 percent of about 25 million Malaysians, the non-Malays continue to lose their political weightage, so much so that their already minimal bargaining power is now virtually totally shattered so what else is there to hope for in the coming general elections?

MCA, Gerakan and MIC have been the three main non-Malay representative parties in Barisan National. MCA and MIC, in particular, have been relegated to minor components in the coalition, plunging from full partners in the Alliance during the heydays of Merdeka half-a-century ago.

Charged with the task of championing the rights of Chinese once upon a time, MCA has seen its more glorious times. It is now but a pathetic pawn, clinging on to a few junior ministerships and deputies and often hardly has any say in matters decided for them in the Parliament.

Indeed, even state departmental directors dare over-rule what they say in public.

All this does not bode well for our nation's future. Can one still believe in 'One nation, one Malaysia?' It's simply flabbergasting.
