All this clamoring about freedom of expression and thought are a little bit tiresome for me. The people who are calling for this freedom are like children who want to be independent and free but lack the other reality of freedom which is the responsibility.

They forget that with freedom comes responsibility and accountability. In addition, when we talk about freedom, we have to understand that there exists two parts to it, which is 'freedom to' and 'freedom from'. '

Freedom 'to' express oneself does not necessarily mean one gets freedom 'from' the law. When this freedom to express is abused, then one has to be accountable and face the penalty.

For freedom to express, one has to be responsible in what is expressed be it the truth or not. Wisdom is essential, especially when expressing issues that are sensitive and could lead to greater harm than good. It is selfish for one to be only concerned about the freedom give to himself without regarding the harm to others.

Those who strive and fight for freedom of expression must also make equivalent effort to educate people in general of the responsibility that comes with it.

We must not take the issue at simplistic levels as this will lead to complication in the future.
