I refer to the letter Did Klang GH have expertise?

Now that baby Yoke Shan is reportedly on the road to discovery, maybe it is time the health minister to stop his 'sandiwara'. While pointing his index finger at the so-called 'tele-specialist' , has the minister noticed that three fingers are pointing at himself?

Being the minister, is he aware of the number of neonatologists his ministry or the country has? Why has he placed a house officer or trainee doctor in the neonate unit? Does he expect all injections given to neonates to be given by a specialist? Has his ministry sufficient neonatologists to provide such a service? Is he aware of the lives that have been saved by tele-consulting? Is he aware of the workload handled by his specialists, medical officers and house officers?

If he has no answers to these questions, can he please stop the 'sandiwara'. We all know that the general election draws near. Can he please come out to say that the system he is responsible for sucks big time? While promising to take disciplinary action against the so-called 'tele-specialist', can he also promise to discipline himself first?

The minister happens to be a medical doctor and must have at some time in the past worked in the Health Ministry. His director-general must have spent much time in the ministry's hospitals too. Can the two of them honestly tell us that they have never ever practiced so-called tele-consulting during their time?

For that matter do they really believe that tele-consulting will no longer occur after baby Yoke Shan's case? Can they ask the doctors in the various hospitals under their care in the country to have a show of hands as to who among them have never resorted to this practice ever in the past?

The minister has been busily promoting tele-medicine and is now telling those who practise tele-medicine to desist and resign! Is he going or coming?
