I would like to bring the attention of our Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) [#1]website[/#]. I am not usually a keen police observer as there is nothing to be observed that we don't already know. However, the fact that I may have a traffic summons prompted me to be a good citizen to check with them at their website.

It appears that our police force is trying hard to catch up with the IT revolution. Another significant thing I learnt from the multi-colour site was the PDRM also never wavers from the promise of their "khidmat mesra" service and of course their "cepat dan betul" philosophy. I must commend the lawman that came up with these catchy if not tacky soundbites.

So in the spirit of serving the people in this day and age, they must also allow the public to contact them through the Internet, as I believe no other mode of communication is more cepat than the Internet. Sadly this is not possible through their website.

Our police force must realise that the Internet, apart from being a medium to advertise their commitment is also be a medium to prove their commitment. However, to be fair, they do have a general phone and fax no which I believe will lead to Bukit Aman.

Getting in touch through the Net is possibly the best way to go about contacting them since a lot of people are not too keen in direct contact with a law officer for some reason or another! The Internet allows the public to remain anonymous and I think most people would take that as one less reason to not interact with the force.

Having said that, it would also be wise to have an e-mail forwarding unit to the departments that can respond (such as traffic in my case, or narcotics, CID, even the infamous Special Branch!).
