I refer to the Malaysiakini letter Pope's song list: No need for a fuss .

In reading this response to my letter about the Pope's i-Pod song list, I am indeed astounded by the writer's claim of my alleged 'oversensitiveness'. I take it that the writer is a non-Catholic and therefore would be casual about the whole issue. Fine, but I was merely stating an opinion and nowhere in the letter did I 'kick up a big fuss'.

Quoting Proverbs 12:16 is really unnecessary and I would conclude that since the writer only 'recently came across' that verse, I believe he is taking yet another thing out of context here.

He wrote: 'People all over the world poke fun at each other's religious figures and if everyone were to react, the world would be an oversensitive society with too much politicking'.

Just reading that sentence makes me wonder how often this actually occurs. These people would probably say it among themselves but certainly not broadcast it on national radio!

There are many other issues to make fun of but making religious figures a laughing stock is certainly uncalled for. It is surely not fair game. The RedFM deejays have gone too far.

Since the writer claims to advocate 'human thoughts' and 'words of expressions', well, frankly, I was merely trying to express my own. I never take religion lightly and if we naively choose to ignore those remarks, the floodgates will open for others to jump on the bandwagon.
