As a Chinese Malaysian, I am deeply hurt again by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement in Parliament. ([#1]PM stands by remarks likening Suqiu to 'communists'[/#], Dec 11)

All this while I have had a high regard of him, especially for his talent as a tactician, comparable to the famous ancient Chinese tactician Zhu Ke Liang. But his tactics on Suqiu and subsequent statements are simply nauseating and shameful.

Mahathir had said, "If the Chinese community feels hurt by my remarks which had been cleverly played up by the media and the Chinese press, I'm sorry."

My dear Mahathir, there is no 'if' - you have definitely hurt all the thinking Chinese Malaysians! Maybe not MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik.

Do you think all we (except Ling?) cannot think for ourselves? That we are stupid and easily influenced and brainwashed by Suqiu and the Chinese newspapers? Twenty years ago the Chinese are easily influenced by the Umno, MCA and MIC strategies, but not anymore !

I can tell you that the thousands of Chinese Malaysians who had listened to your Merdeka speech live were immediately hurt and ultra-unhappy with your likening Suqiu to communists and the Al-Ma'unah. It has nothing to do with the subsequent Suqiu statements or reports in the local Chinese press. Are you looking for a scapegoat?

Who is the real liar and extremist? By openly accepting in principle Suqiu's request and quietly allowing MCA, Gerakan and SUPP to tell the Chinese community before the general elections that BN and its cabinet have no problems with Suqiu and yet at the same time believing (from what you said in Parliament) meeting its request will cause racial riots in Malaysia, I want to ask you:

Where is your integrity?

Where is your amanah ?

Where is your stand?

Are you confessing to the whole world that you are not an honest man?

Perhaps Ling and Dr Lim Keng Yaik could shed more light in this seemingly confusing situation, but will they have the courage and integrity to tell the truth?
