I read with deep regret newspaper reports of our prime minister recently rejecting the requests made by Suqiu, saying that he was initially 'forced' to accept them before the general elections last year ([#1]PM stands by remarks likening Suqiu to 'communists'[/#], Dec 11).

This is almost a 'con game', i.e. 'I will take what you give me for the time being but whether you get what you want eventually is all up to me' - a case of heads I win, tails you lose. He cons everyone into electing his party and after getting what he wants, just forgets what he has promised. So, here we have another case of 'Malaysia Boleh !' - but tagged with a ' tipu ' at the end of the catchphrase.

As prime minister, he should know his position; how could anyone possibly force him to accept something which he does not agree to?

I dread to think of international policies and treaties negotiated by him. He can decide to accept something just to overcome an immediate problem and then turn back on his words later when his problem is solved.

He must not forget that he is the head of the nation and such actions will definitely bring about adverse effects to the country.

As father of three kids, I have never done this - promised something that my kids requested just so that I can make them do something that benefits me and after getting what I wanted, told my kids to buzz off. I think this is very unbecoming of a father; what more, a prime minister.

I was born in this country, have lived here for more than four decades, and have been under four prime ministers. I do not believe I have heard of such things from the other three.
